Parts, wing panels and spar pieces |
Glue spar at the notch mark and flush to the top of the plywood back plate |
Glue the other spar flush to the top of the plywood back plate |
If the bottom of the plywood back plate doesn't match spar just sand it flush to the spar |
Center the basswood piece and glue to the spars |
You need to enlarge the hole for the sheetrock screw but it's important that you only drill out the basswood piece and NOT cut into the plywood back plate |
You can start by using a dremel tool to grind out the basswood |
Then finish the hole with a 3/16" drill bit |
Verify that a sheetrock screw passes through easily |
There are several spray adhesives available that are foam safe. Elmers spray adhesive is available at Home Depot. 3M 08074 is a good replacement for 3M77 but is a little harder to get. |
Spray the full length of the back side of the spar and the full length of the front face of the white foam wing piece with your spray adhesive |
Also spray the root of the white foam wing piece |
Lay the wing piece and the spar on a flat surface, carefully align and press the two together |
Make sure that the spar assembly is lined up with the root of the wing piece and that spar is centered on the face of the wing |
Spray adhesive on the other wing panel, align and press it into place with the spar and the other wing panel |
Prepare the blue foam LE by cutting the notch at the root to fit |
Test to make sure that the alignment is correct |
Spray the full length of the front of the spar |
Spray the full length of the back of the LE blue foam |
Press the blue foam LE to the spar making sure that it's centered on the spar and aligned with the basswood block |
