Apply a bead of Probond the length of the center |
Screw the tongue back on with the sheetrock screw and a clamp on the back. Make sure that the tongue is centered by checking your alignment line on the top of the tongue |
Spray the entire wing with a light coat of adhesive |
A good tape for covering the TE and for hinging. |
Apply a single piece of tape over the TE |
Wrap the tape over the back of the TE and onto the bottom of the wing |
Apply a piece of mono strapping tape on the LE. Position it so that it covers the center of the LE but is not centered on the LE. It should go slightly under the LE |
Apply a second piece of mono strapping tape. This time it should lap over the first piece but not centered and come over the top of the LE a little. The idea is to get two pieces of tape that overlap each other on the LE |
Smooth each piece of tape firmly to the LE foam |
Apply a piece of 2 or 3 inch Bidirectional tape centered over the LE This piece is going over the other two pieces of tape and should be offset to cover a little more of the top then the bottom of the LE |
Smooth the Bidi tape firmly to the foam |
Turn the wing over and apply a second piece of bidi tape so that it overlaps the first piece of bidi and comes over the bottom a little |
Smooth the tape firmly to the foam and work it around the tongue. The spray adhesive that you put down will help the tape stick to the foam |
Apply a piece of bidi tape to the bottom of the wing tip |
A side view |
|
Put an additional piece of bidi tape at the front of the tongue |
Put an additional piece of bidi tape at the back of the tongue |
Put an additional piece of bidi tape on top at the back |
A good way to cover a wing is to put a sock full of beans on the wing and hang it over the table. You can use colored packing tape, like Zagi tape, to cover the wing. Start at the TE edge with just enough hanging over the TE to fold and cover the TE. Start about 2 inches past the center of the wing |
