Here you see the extension cable from the receiver and the battery cable being used as a switch. |
After connecting the two you just push them into the cavity. After the fuselage is covered with tape this cavity will just be a slit in the tape and makes for a great place to conceal and protect your switch connection. This picture is for demo purpose. You don't actually need to install and connect your battery and receiver at this time! |
Next you'll need to make the channel for the throttle servo cable. |
You'll need to drill a hole through the crutch. |
Very carefully drill an elongated hole through the crutch. |
Using the same method, create a guide channel through the foam into the servo cavity. |
You should target the end of the cavity to match where the cable comes out of the servo. |
After you've enlarged the channel, fish the cable through |
And then carefully push the servo into place. All the servo cavities should be cut so that the servo fits into the foam very tightly. |
Trim some of the foam so that you have clearence for the arm and linkage. You should trim the servo arm down to the last hole on the arm so that the arm is as short as possible. |
Here you can get a close up of what the trimmed area looks like and the servo arm. |
Again if you're going to use a pressure bladder this is a good simple pinch-off system. |
Next we make the channel for the throttle linkage. You would be doing this regardless of whether or not you used a pinch-off system. |
|
Again using the cold piano wire, make your guide channel. |
As you can see the wire should come out on the top and in line with the servo arm. |
|
This is a shot of what the throttle linkage should look like. |
If you're going to use the linkage pinch-off then you'll need to add a piece of plywood to act as a backstop to pinch the fuel tubing against. If you're not going to use the linkage pinch-off system you don't need to add any plywood to the foam. It'll be taped over. |
Tape over the servos in preparation for covering the fuselage with spray adhesive. |
